Music Ministry

The music ministry of First Baptist Church offers a full program of graded choirs for preschoolers through senior adults. Music is a vital part of worship at First Baptist and these groups contribute significantly to that end. You are invited to be a part of the group that best suits you!

		Handbell Choir This group of youth and adults rehearses on Sunday evening and plays for worship services several times throughout the church year.
		Jubilant Singers Jubilant Singers is a senior adult choir that is composed of members of four area churches - First Baptist (West Columbia), Holland Avenue Baptist, Green Hill Baptist Churches, and First Baptist (Cayce). Keith Watson, Minister of Music at Green Hill Baptist Church, directs the group and Charlton Bozard is the accompanist. This senior adult choir rehearses weekly and sings for nursing and retirement homes, as well as traveling to other parts of our state to minister through song.
		Children's Choirs These choirs provide teaching and musical training for children age 3 through grade 6. They meet on Wednesday evenings. The Preschool/First Grade and Children's (grades 2 - 6) Choirs sing for worship occasionally and during special seasons.
		Sanctuary Choir Adults age 18 and over make up this group that sings every Sunday morning for worship. Rehearsals are held on Wednesday evenings after Prayer Meeting. This group presents special seasonal programs such as Easter and Christmas. In addition, this group sings for functions at other churches.
		Sunday Night Pick-Up Choir This group is made up of anyone who comes to the choir loft on the night they sing, usually once a month. Men's and ladies choruses also sing occasionally on Sunday evenings. Rehearsals are held right before evening worship. We make room for everyone who wants to sing and praise God.
		Youth Choir This choir is for teenagers in grades 7-12. We alternate between singing and bell ringing, depending on the size of the group. The Youth Choir (grades 7-12) sings occasionally for worship and during special seasons.
